Distantie is a video work about the illusion of nearness. The work ends with a short text reflecting on the same subject.

In the video, I play three characters who move towards and away from each other in rhythmic patterns. The work is structured like a musical composition, with each character performing a different part of the same score. The choreography is based on simple staging principles from film and theatre.

Distantie is a Dutch word whose meaning lies somewhere between distance and detachment.
